How it is counted
Tick rule
Up-tick on the mid price = buy, down-tick = sell. Forex has no trade sizes, so it counts prints.
Real ticks on Ultra
Real ticks on Ultra; other plans see an OHLC estimate the chart labels “not reliable”.
No look-ahead
The forming candle counts only the ticks the replay has played.
60 days per view
Zoom in or drop a timeframe on wide charts.
Setups worth a backtest
Hypotheses, not results — replay 100+ trades and compare with a random entry.
Absorption at a level
Heavy buying at resistance, close back below.
Delta divergence
Higher high in price, lower high in delta.
Imbalance retest
Buy the first return into the zone.
Session-open burst
Trade with the first big burst after the open.
What forex order flow is not
- Delta counts prints, not lots — no feed sees every forex trade.
- No depth of market or order book — only prints.
- Tick start dates differ per market — see tick data.
Order flow trading — FAQ
What is order flow trading?
Reading who traded aggressively — buyers lifting offers or sellers hitting bids — through delta per candle, cumulative delta over a session and delta at each price, which is the footprint chart.
Can you see order flow in forex?
Partly. Spot forex has no central exchange, so FxBacktest counts prints with the tick rule on the mid price — the tick-count delta FX platforms show. It is quote activity, not exchange volume.
Do I need Ultra for order flow?
Real tick-based order flow needs Ultra. Other plans see an estimate from candle data, labelled not reliable on the chart. Stacked Imbalances needs real ticks and draws nothing without them.
Can I backtest an order-flow strategy?
Yes. Replay any of the 105 markets with the order-flow tools on, place trades with a stop and target, and the session report totals win rate, expectancy and drawdown.
