Free means forex and gold. Everything else is Premium.
BacktestingMax is a deep, well-built backtester, but its free plan covers forex and metals only, keeps one chart and logs five journal entries a month. FxBacktest opens all 105 markets on a free account and costs less per month on its paid plans. Where BacktestingMax genuinely does more, it is listed below.
WHAT THE FREE PLAN OPENS BacktestingMax free: forex and metals, one chart, 5 journal logs a month. FxBacktest free: every market. 2 OF 9 MARKETSvs105 MARKETSTwo browser platforms with replay, prop challenges and AI. The gaps are in what the free plan opens, what each paid tier costs, and data depth.
BacktestingMax details read from backtestingmax.com/pricing and its homepage on 20 October 2026. FxBacktest is not affiliated with BacktestingMax. Plans change — check their site before you pay.
Most of these exist at BacktestingMax only behind Premium, or are not listed at all. In FxBacktest they come with the account.
BacktestingMax keeps crypto, indices, stocks, ETFs and commodities for Premium. A free FxBacktest account opens all 105 markets, from Nasdaq to Bitcoin.
ALL PLANSFree BacktestingMax logs five journal entries a month. FxBacktest saves every trade in every session, with notes and tags.
ALL PLANSTrade M15 while H1 and H4 replay beside it, every pane locked to the same moment — no peeking at a higher-timeframe candle that has not closed yet.
PROMark trades A+, Mistake, FOMO or News as you place them, then see which tag actually makes money. See the trading journal.
ALL PLANSEverything in Ultra for €89, one payment, no renewal — offered for the first 12 days after you sign up.
ONE-TIMEThe app and dashboard run in 28 languages, from Spanish and German to Hindi, Arabic, Thai and Japanese.
ALL PLANSReplay, AI help and prop practice are on both platforms. Here is what carries over.
Future candles hidden; step forward one bar or auto-play.
Drag the stop-loss and take-profit on the chart while the replay runs.
Lot size worked out from your risk percent and stop distance.
Both turn a described strategy into a test run with stats.
Run a session under challenge rules before you pay for one.
News events available while you replay.
Win rate, profit factor, expectancy, drawdown and an equity curve.
No installer, works on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
Python on BacktestingMax Premium; FXScript on FxBacktest.
An alternative page that hides the other side is an ad. These are the things BacktestingMax does that FxBacktest does not.
BacktestingMax lists futures and over 250 instruments. FxBacktest has 105 markets and no futures.
Major pairs and gold go back to 2003. FxBacktest's hourly and daily history is long, but its deep one-minute archive starts in 2016 and covers four symbols.
On its $34.99 Pro plan: seconds timeframes, exact fill order inside each minute, Renko and range bars. FxBacktest has ticks on 20 symbols but no seconds chart or Renko.
Preset rules for FTMO, Topstep, Apex and others, Monte Carlo runs, up to 4 symbols on one balance, and an MCP link to Claude or ChatGPT. FxBacktest has you enter the firm's rules yourself.
If you trade futures, need seconds candles or want 20 years of minute data, BacktestingMax Pro is the stronger tool and worth its price. If you want every market on a free account and a cheaper paid tier, start with FxBacktest.
BacktestingMax charges in dollars through Paddle; FxBacktest in euros through Stripe. List prices, 20 October 2026.
Monthly, FxBacktest Pro is cheaper than BacktestingMax Premium (€12 against $16.99). On yearly billing they are close (€129 against $119.99), so the choice comes down to features rather than price.
The pay-once comparison is the widest gap: €89 for everything in FxBacktest Ultra, against $199.99 for BacktestingMax Premium without its Pro features. The €89 offer is only open for your first 12 days.
Nothing to migrate. Open the same pair on the same date and run both side by side for a week.
Email or Google, no card. Nothing to download and no broker to connect.
Forex, gold, indices, crypto or stocks — all open on the free account. Choose a timeframe from M1 to MN and a start date.
Step a bar at a time or auto-play. Drag the stop and target on the chart; lot size follows your risk percent.
Win rate, expectancy, profit factor, Sharpe and drawdown, saved to your journal so the sample keeps growing.
Short answers. Every BacktestingMax figure was read from their own pages on 20 October 2026.
Partly. The free plan has no time limit but covers forex and metals only, the most recent 12 months of 1-minute data (extendable to 36), a single chart, 20 AI credits a day and 5 journal logs a month. Crypto, indices, stocks and futures need Premium at $16.99 a month.
$16.99 billed monthly or $119.99 a year. Pro is $34.99 a month or $249 a year, and Lifetime Premium is a single $199.99 payment that excludes the Pro features.
FxBacktest Pro is €12 a month or €129 a year, and a one-time €89 option covers everything in Ultra if you take it within 12 days of signing up. The free account opens all 105 markets.
No seconds candles. FxBacktest Ultra replays real ticks inside the one-minute bar on 20 symbols, which answers the same question — did the stop or the target fill first — on those markets.
Yes. Prop challenge mode takes one to three phases, a profit target per phase, and daily and maximum drawdown checked against live equity. Unlike BacktestingMax, you enter the firm's numbers yourself rather than picking a preset.
