- Open the simulator and pick US100 from the instrument list — or US500, US30, GER40 and 54 others.
- Choose a start date and timeframe. The chart hides everything after it, so you are reading the same bars a trader had at the time rather than a chart you already know the answer to.
- Replay bar by bar and place trades with the mouse. Stops, targets and position size are handled in the index's real contract terms, not forex pip values.
- Read the report. Win rate, expectancy, profit factor, Sharpe and drawdown across the session, saved to your trading journal so the sample accumulates.

Three things that break a forex strategy on US100.
We measured all of them on this archive rather than repeating the usual advice. Each links to the full study.
A fifth of the day happens in two hours
Across 3,378 sessions in Eastern time, the two hours after the New York open carry 20.6% of the Nasdaq's daily movement and the cash session carries 54.9% of it. The closing hour sets the day's high more often than the open does.
Read the study Original researchIt gaps every night, not once a week
9,722 session breaks measured. The median US100 overnight gap is 11.11 points and 89.3% fill within 24 hours — but roughly 5.5% of nights gap more than half a daily range, which is what an overnight stop actually has to survive.

The Nasdaq's average daily range went from 50 points in 2017 to 487 in 2026. Carrying a forex lot size onto US100 takes far more risk than intended. How to size, which instrument to test, and what to watch for.

Nasdaq backtesting FAQ
Is Nasdaq backtesting really free here?
Yes. All 93 instruments including US100 are unlocked on the free plan, with every timeframe from M1 to D1, full trade execution and session stats. Nothing to download, no card. Paid plans add more saved sessions, more simultaneous indicators and deeper analytics — not the Nasdaq chart or its history.
How much Nasdaq history can I replay?
Daily and hourly bars from May 2013 — more than 3,400 sessions and around 70,000 hourly bars. Lower timeframes cover less: M30 from 2017, M15 from 2022, M5 from 2025, M1 from 2026.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in the browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPad and phone. No MetaTrader, no data download, no spreadsheet.
Is this the cash index, the future, or a CFD?
A CFD on the Nasdaq 100 — what most retail traders actually trade. Near-24-hour session with a short daily break, and no quarterly rollover to handle unlike the NQ future. The US100 guide explains why the difference matters.
