A free replay is only as good as the history behind it.
FXAbsolute is a free, no-sign-in replay simulator. By its own description it covers 15 instruments on about five years of one-minute data, January 2021 to April 2026. FxBacktest is free too, and replays 105 markets back to 2009 on gold and 2010 on the majors, updated every night, with indicators and spreads.
FIVE YEARS IS ONE REGIME 2021-2026 has no 2015 franc shock, no 2020 crash and no 2011 gold top. A strategy that only saw one regime has not been tested. 2021 – APR 2026vs2009 – TODAYBoth are free and both run in the browser. The difference is how much market you get to replay, and what you can measure on it.
FX Absolute details read from fxabsolute.com and its forex backtesting tool page on 26 October 2026; the indicator count was checked in the app the same day. Its own pages list the instrument count as both 15 and 10; we use 15. FxBacktest is not affiliated with FX Absolute. Features change — check their site before you choose.
None of these appear in FX Absolute. All of them are in FxBacktest, most on the free account.
Daily and hourly bars on gold reach back to 2009 and the majors to 2010, through the 2011 gold top, the 2015 franc shock and the 2020 crash. New bars land every night.
ALL PLANSSilver, oil, natural gas, 16 stock indices, 16 US stocks, 8 ETFs, the VIX, bonds and five cryptos, next to every major, cross and exotic. See the backtest hub.
ALL PLANSFX Absolute has 7. FxBacktest has 86 built in, from moving averages and RSI to order-flow, volume profile and COT, and you can write your own in FXScript. A free account runs one at a time; Pro runs three and Ultra has no limit.
ALL PLANSTrades fill with a spread and a commission instead of at the mid price, so a scalping edge has to survive the cost a broker would actually charge.
ALL PLANSOne to three phases, profit targets, and daily and maximum drawdown checked against live equity — the way a funded-account challenge actually fails you.
ALL PLANSDescribe a rule in plain English and the built-in Claude assistant writes it in FXScript, then runs it over years of bars in seconds — with an optimizer for the inputs. See AI backtesting.
ALL PLANSEverything FX Absolute lists as a feature exists in FxBacktest as well.
Future candles hidden; step forward one bar or auto-play.
Entry, stop and target on the chart, movable mid-replay.
Trendlines, Fibonacci, horizontal lines, rectangles and more.
Plus expectancy, Sharpe and an equity curve.
A record of why you took each trade, with tags you can analyse.
Close the tab, come back later, carry on.
Start the replay wherever you want in the history.
M1 replay on every market, on a free account.
Any mobile browser, with a touch order ribbon.
An alternative page that hides the other side is an ad. These are the things FX Absolute does that FxBacktest does not.
Open the page and replay, with no email or sign-in. FxBacktest needs a free account so your sessions and journal are saved.
FX Absolute lists no paid plan, so there is nothing to be sold. FxBacktest keeps multi-timeframe replay, more indicators, deep minute history and ticks for Pro and Ultra.
Its journal records your mood next to each trade. FxBacktest has notes and tags but no dedicated mood field.
Its replay runs at up to 60×. FxBacktest's auto-play tops out at 30×, so skimming months of quiet bars takes longer.
If you want to practise clicking through recent forex charts with no sign-up, FX Absolute is a quick way in. If you want a strategy tested across more than one market regime, on more than 15 markets, with indicators and costs, FxBacktest is the better fit.
Neither asks for a card. The free tiers differ in data and markets, not in price.
The free account is the fair comparison. On it, FxBacktest replays 105 markets on M1 to MN with years more history, indicators and spreads. You never have to pay to get more than FX Absolute offers.
The paid plans are for multi-timeframe replay, more indicators at once, deep minute history and tick-accurate fills.
Nothing to install. Open the app in any browser, phone included.
Email or Google, no card. Nothing to download and no broker to connect.
Pick from 105 markets and any date back to 2009 — not just the last five years.
Step a bar at a time or auto-play. Drag the stop and target on the chart; lot size follows your risk percent.
Win rate, expectancy, profit factor, Sharpe and drawdown, saved to your journal so the sample keeps growing.
