A backtest you cannot come back to is just practice.
FX Replay's free Beginner plan gives you 2 sessions and deletes your data after one week. FxBacktest's free plan replays all 105 markets on every timeframe, and what you save stays saved. When you outgrow it, Pro is €12 a month. Here is the full comparison, including where FX Replay is the better pick.
ONE WEEK, THEN IT IS GONE On FX Replay's free plan, data retention is one week. A 100-trade sample takes most traders longer than that to build — and the whole point is to look back at it. FX REPLAY FREE · 1 WEEKvsFXBACKTEST FREE · KEPTBoth replay real history bar by bar in the browser and both have a free tier. The difference is what the free tier lets you finish — and keep.
FX Replay figures read from its pricing page on 27 October 2026; the plan cards show yearly billing as $15 and $29.16 a month, and its FAQ lists monthly billing at $17.99 and $35. FxBacktest prices are the base euro-zone prices; regional prices may be lower. Prices are per account and change over time.
The same replay loop — pick a market, step the candles, take the trade, read the stats — with these differences.
No retention window on any plan. A session you saved in March is still there in December, so you can compare this quarter's sample with last quarter's.
EVERY PLANEach market carries a spread for every UTC hour, measured from real bid and ask data. The 21:00 rollover costs what it costs, instead of hiding behind one flat number. See the spread study.
EVERY PLANOn Ultra, stops and targets inside a candle are settled in the order the ticks printed. On gold, the stop came first in 67% of the candles where both were hit. Tick data.
ULTRADescribe a strategy in plain English, the assistant writes it in FXScript, and the engine replays it over years of data and sweeps the inputs. See AI backtesting.
AI CREDITS: ULTRA OR PACKSRun a session under real challenge rules — profit target, daily and maximum drawdown, phases — and see whether your strategy would have passed. See the prop firm challenge simulator.

For manual forex backtesting in the browser, FxBacktest: the free plan replays all 105 markets on every timeframe from M1 to monthly, saves 3 sessions with no retention timer, and gives the full session report. If you need futures or CME data, there is no free alternative that matches FX Replay on that.
Partly. Its Beginner plan is free with no card, but it allows 2 sessions, 50 trades per session, 1 indicator and one week of data retention. Intermediate is $17.99 a month or $180 a year, and Pro is $35 a month or $350 a year, as listed on its pricing page on 27 October 2026.
FxBacktest Pro is €12 a month (€129 a year) with 30 saved sessions, 600 trades per session and multi-timeframe charts. Ultra is €39 a month (€389 a year) with everything unlimited, tick data on all 105 markets and seconds timeframes. FX Replay Intermediate is $17.99 and Pro $35 a month.
No. We carry CFD data for forex, metals, energy, indices, stocks, ETFs and crypto from Dukascopy, and we do not relabel it as futures. If you trade ES, NQ or other CME contracts, FX Replay Pro is the better tool for that part of your testing.
Trades per session: our free plan allows 20 per session against FX Replay Beginner’s 50, and 1 indicator on both. What we add on free is 3 sessions instead of 2, every market and timeframe, and no deletion after a week.
There is no direct import from FX Replay. You can import live MT4 and MT5 account history into the trading journal, and start new backtest sessions in the replay. Most traders keep their old FX Replay results as a screenshot or export and rebuild the sample.
